BROOKLYN WITH DANIEL STEWART

So excitingly one of my favorite film photographers, Daniel Stewart, ended up being in Brooklyn/NYC for the New York marathon that was going on and he had some free time so he ended up scheduling some shoots. Honestly I would’ve loved to have my photo taken by him considering he shot the promotional content for 6lack’s new album, who is one of my favorite artists in the game right now, but I decided instead to shadow him for a couple shoots.

First and foremost he’s known for his film portrait photography and I didn’t really know about his work until he did the shoot for 6lack and thus I was introduced to his work. Pretty soon I fell in love with his style and knew I had to meet him the first chance I got. His style can be summed up as editorial with a touch of intimacy. Here is his portfolio if you’d like to check out some of his work.

So once he announced on twitter that he’d be in Brooklyn I knew I had to hit him up. I slid into his twitter DMs and then from there we set up a time to meet up and I shot with him and got to learn a lot about him and who he was. It was amazing being able to see inside of the mind of someone who had been in the industry from 18, which is how old I am.

Before we met up and took photos together and talked, I ended up walking for about 2-3 hours from Manhattan to Brooklyn and I stopped along the way taking some pictures of the buildings I saw, which was kind of a new experience for me.

One of his shoots actually was to test out a new film stock from Lomography. During his testing of a new film, I brought out my camera and took some photos of him as he was testing it out.

Also I ended up also trying some of the new methods that I had learned and I ended up with these 3 photos.
