CHRISTIAN FRENCH AND QUINN XCII CONCERT

So recently right before my spring break (which I’m currently on) I went to a concert in NYC where two of my favorite artists, Christian French and Quinn XCII, were performing. In all honesty I didn’t know what I was expecting from the concert, because personally I haven’t been listening to a lot of English music recently and have been enjoying a lot of Reggaeton (Spanish pop music is the best way to describe it) and I had bought the tickets back when I had listened to both artists religiously. But I was pleasantly surprised and it reignited my love for English music as I hadn’t really listened to a lot of it for the past few months. Music to me is a very important thing and something that I constantly listen to (I think I listened to about 70,000 minutes of music last year) because it helps me think and work way better. Anyways I ended making a vlog out of it. It was kind of a new feeling creating vlogs again and something I kind of enjoyed to a certain extent. The first time I started creating vlogs I was really not doing for me but for the money which I realized didn’t really come easy yet I continued until I felt it was taking away from fun on exchange. In general just creating something and then seeing the finished product as something beautiful makes me really happy. So here is the vlog that I ended up making even though it’s really short.

I don’t see myself creating vlogs that often but I feel as though I might make some when I do fun things and travel all around the world (I’m sitting in Mexico on my friends couch as I write this lol), but maybe I’ll be able to make a cool thing out of my YouTube again. FIRST TIME WITH FILM

Recently I purchased a Nikon F100 to use on my travels and journeys across the world. Ever since I started photography I’ve always had a fascination with the idea of shooting film but my father would always tell me it was a waste of time. Currently in the photography world there is a resurgence in film, so I thought there’s no better time than now to get into the game. After I had made my decision to invest in the medium, I saved up enough money to buy a film camera and some film before I went to Tijuana to visit Damian, one of my friends from exchange. The main reason I chose a Film SLR instead of rangefinder or point and shoot was due to the ease of use. The camera did all of the metering for me and was capable of autofocus. I already shoot with a Nikon so I knew using this camera would be easy (which it was) and I was able to use all the same lenses I would put on my DSLR. I really only liked a couple of the photos that I took, but either way it was my first time shooting film so I probably made some mistakes. Anyways here are some of the photos I got off of my 2 rolls.

In my personal opinion my photos didn’t look to sharp or crazy detailed like other peoples film shots. I think it has to do with the focusing on my specific camera or maybe with the film lab that processed it, who knows? Next time I plan on switching up the film lab I use and possibly scanning my own film and seeing whether that works better considering I can choose to scan whichever ones I like the most in the highest detail. I also ended up resetting my camera’s custom settings back to the factory defaults so maybe that might help. Anyways I know I’ll be able to improve on my film photography and learn from the mistakes. SHOOT WITH ANA CRISTI AND VALERIA

For the last couple of days in 2018 and the first couple of 2019 I spent my time on the west coast in Tijuana, Mexico. While I was there I got the chance to take photos of these two girls I had met at a New Years party. What really excites me about this was the fact that I had the chance to make some new friends and take some awesome photos during a famous Tijuana sunset! So here are some of the photos!

I’ve honestly not had that much fun taking photos in such a long time and I’m so happy with how they came out. Also keep an eye out for all the things that I’ll be doing in the coming months ;). Thanks for reading and if you enjoyed any of the photos go ahead and follow my Instagram down below!

SIENA VS HARVARD

This past weekend I got a chance to take photos at a basketball game and it was by far one of the coolest experiences ever. I had shot at one before a couple weeks back, but first of all Siena did not end up winning and also it wasn’t a big game. But this past weekend my school, Siena, went against Harvard. We ended up winning the game and did very well during the game ending up with a 67-64 score. Here are some of the photos that I got.

Safe to say we ended up dunking on Harvard. ;) Thanks for reading and if you enjoyed any of the photos go ahead and follow my Instagram down below!

BROOKLYN WITH DANIEL STEWART

So excitingly one of my favorite film photographers, Daniel Stewart, ended up being in Brooklyn/NYC for the New York marathon that was going on and he had some free time so he ended up scheduling some shoots. Honestly I would’ve loved to have my photo taken by him considering he shot the promotional content for 6lack’s new album, who is one of my favorite artists in the game right now, but I decided instead to shadow him for a couple shoots.

First and foremost he’s known for his film portrait photography and I didn’t really know about his work until he did the shoot for 6lack and thus I was introduced to his work. Pretty soon I fell in love with his style and knew I had to meet him the first chance I got. His style can be summed up as editorial with a touch of intimacy. Here is his portfolio if you’d like to check out some of his work.

So once he announced on twitter that he’d be in Brooklyn I knew I had to hit him up. I slid into his twitter DMs and then from there we set up a time to meet up and I shot with him and got to learn a lot about him and who he was. It was amazing being able to see inside of the mind of someone who had been in the industry from 18, which is how old I am.

Before we met up and took photos together and talked, I ended up walking for about 2-3 hours from Manhattan to Brooklyn and I stopped along the way taking some pictures of the buildings I saw, which was kind of a new experience for me.

One of his shoots actually was to test out a new film stock from Lomography. During his testing of a new film, I brought out my camera and took some photos of him as he was testing it out.

Also I ended up also trying some of the new methods that I had learned and I ended up with these 3 photos.
